This apple cider mimosa recipe screams fall is finally here and that means the holiday party season is just getting started.

Apple Cider is a favourite in my area because we have so many apple orchards in the Niagra Region it is easy to find fresh apple cider almost anywhere. There isn’t an apple drink or apple recipe I am not in love with. Apples are just so darn great. Crunchy, sweet or sour… they literally can be used in almost any recipe with a little imagination.

And since sparkling wine and the holiday season go hand in hand so it only seems obvious that there need to be some fall co*cktails with apples to kick off the season.

So I got to thinking what if I added the fresh apple cider I had to some Prosecco I have been saving. Well, let me tell you. Magic … Magic is what happened!

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Apple Cider – I highly encourage visiting a local farm to pick some up. This way you can support local farmers and get the freshest possible.
  • Sparkling Wine – Personally use prosecco because Champagne is much more expensive and unless you are drinking it straight up I don’t think it makes a difference for the price. Cava is another good option or a sparkling wine from a local winery works well too.
  • Cinnamon Sugar – So easy to make! Add 3 parts sugar to 1 part cinnamon and mix.
  • Honey – Optional to rim the glass. I You can also use water or some of the apple cider. The point is to get the cinnamon sugar to stick. I find that honey works well because it stays drier and drips less than when liquids are used to rim the glass.

How To Make Apple Cider Mimosas

This Apple Cider co*cktail is made with just two core ingredients. One part apple cider to 3 parts Prosecco. Or you can adjust the ratio as you wish!

To make this fall co*cktail special I rimmed the glass first with honey and then into cinnamon sugar.Honey is great for rimming glasses because it helps the sugars or sprinkles stick to the rim without dripping or melting.

Creamed honey works best because it is thicker and comes usually in a bowl-like container perfect for dipping a glass into.

To make the cinnamon-sugar mix 3 parts sugar to 1 part ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Place it on a shallow dish and then dip the rim of the honey-dipped glass into the cinnamon sugar. This pretty rim adds just a hint of spice and sweetness.

Next, add the cider and sparkling wine to the glass. I recommend pouring the sparkling wine into the glass slowly because it tends to do what a bubbly does and bubble over quickly.

Apple Cinder Mimosa Decorating Ideas

  • Slice apples width wise to reveal the star shaped seed pods. About 1/4″ thick will do. Remove the seeds with the tip of a knife. Then dip half of the sliced apple back in the creamed honey and then into the cinnamon sugar. Cut a small slit into the apple slice to allow it to hang from the cup.
  • Add a cinnamon stick or two
  • Slice a thin piece from a larger caramel apple and hang it from the side of the cup or lay it on top
  • Use dried apple slices on the rim. Dried fruit is natures candy!
  • Add a little more sweetness by drizzling some honey or caramel inside the walls of the champagne flute before adding the liquids.

Tip:

Don’t have a tonne of champagne flutes in your cupboard? The grocery stores or dollar stores often carry packs of reusable plastic champagne flutes perfect for parties. And you can wash them and reuse them for your next celebration.
